Modern Living Properties complying with the new rules for property ads
The Advertising Standards Authority has provided new rules to clarify non-optional letting fees and client charges for property adverts – Make Sure your agent is complying with the regulations.
There are yet more rules and regulations to abide by when letting a property. From November 1, 2013, as a letting agent or private landlord you now have to ensure you include information about non-optional fees in your property adverts together with any charges the tenant incurs during the rental process.
As a minimum, when an agent or private landlord advertises a property for rent, they must include all costs which they will charge up front: for instance, an administration fee or a referencing fee.
If, however, the charges can’t be calculated up front – if you don’t know whether you will have to reference one or more people, say – then they still have to make these available to tenants via adverts and online.
Make sure your agent is complying with these new regulations.
